LG televisions run webOS, a slick system with its own Content Store and excellent support for IPTV players. Pair that with the point-and-click Magic Remote and you have one of the most pleasant ways to navigate 40,000 channels. No streaming stick, no fuss.
IBO Player and Hotplayer are the go-to apps on LG, both activated through a web portal. The steps below take you from a fresh install to live channels.
Before you start
- An LG Smart TV running webOS, connected to the internet.
- Your Strong 8K M3U playlist URL from the welcome email.
- A phone or computer for the activation portal.
Install IPTV on LG in five steps
Open the LG Content Store
From the home bar, open the Content Store and search for IBO Player or Hotplayer.
Install and open the app
Download your chosen player and launch it. Note the MAC address or device key shown.
Visit the activation portal
On a phone or computer, go to the portal website the app displays.
Load your Strong 8K playlist
Register the device with its MAC, paste your Strong 8K M3U URL and save it.
Refresh and watch
Reopen the player on the TV. Your channels appear and you can stream in 4K.
For a smooth experience
Use the Magic Remote
The pointer makes browsing a long channel list far quicker than a standard d-pad. It is one of webOS’s nicest touches for IPTV.
Keep webOS updated
An up-to-date system keeps the players stable and compatible.
Prefer a wired link
Ethernet gives the steadiest 4K. If wi-fi is your only option, keep the TV close to the router.
If something is off
If the app is missing from the Content Store, your TV may be an older webOS version, so use whichever supported player appears. Empty channel lists almost always trace back to a mistyped M3U URL or MAC, so check both. A restart of the app clears most temporary glitches.
